Why C+: The core underwear and ACE sweats are well liked by repeat buyers, but paid return labels, a large final-sale section and poor Trustpilot service reports keep it in C+ territory.

Overall is the weighted mean of the five rows, adjusted by a small slug-seeded offset so that brands never line up in a false staircase, and capped at 9.8. Full working on the Methodology page (v2.1).
Findings in brief
Single pairs are priced high: the AIRKNITx Boxer Brief lists at $34, the 18-Hour Jersey Boxer Brief at $30 and the SILVER Boxer Brief at $40.
Multipacks save little at list price. A 3-pack of AIRKNITx is $96.90 against $102 for three singles, about 5 percent, rising to roughly 10 percent on 9-packs.
Returns are accepted within 30 days if unworn, unwashed and, for underwear, in original packaging; return labels cost money unless you bought the Checkout+ add-on.
First-time buyers get a Try On Guarantee: one worn pair of underwear can be refunded or exchanged without sending it back, once per customer.
Trustpilot shows a 2.2 ‘Poor’ score from a small review base, with complaints about elastic failing, orders stuck in processing and email or chat going unanswered.
What you are buying
Mack Weldon is a New York men’s basics brand started by founder and CEO Brian Berger around a single product, the 18-Hour Jersey Boxer Brief. It now sells several underwear families (18-Hour Jersey, AIRKNITx, SILVER with silver-fibre odor control, Stealth Pro), undershirts and tees, the ACE French terry line of hoodies, sweatpants and a blazer, plus chinos, knitwear, socks and bags. It sells mostly online and through a small number of its own stores, starting at Hudson Yards. Prices sit at the premium end of the basics market, softened by a large rotating final-sale section and a points-based loyalty program. The buyer it suits is a man who wants one dependable underwear style and will reorder it for years.

AIRKNITx Boxer Brief CONSIDER
The brand’s breathable, mesh-zoned boxer brief, $34 a pair in the US or $96.90 for a 3-pack, offered in dozens of colours and in an 8-inch leg at $38. On-site reviews are strongly positive about fit and the firm waistband. Two recent three-star reviews raise points worth knowing: the waistband can roll, and the label information is printed on the outside of the garment, which one buyer found absurd at this price. Trustpilot complaints about elastic giving out within months are not product-specific, but they are the main durability risk. It suits warm climates and active days more than cold offices.
StrengthLight, airy fabric with a waistband buyers call firm and secure
WeaknessExpensive per pair; some report waistband roll and visible printed labels
The product the company was founded on, a soft jersey boxer brief at $30 a pair or $85.50 for a 3-pack in the US, in around 30 colourways. Recent on-site reviews include buyers who say they have worn the style for six, ten and even fifteen years, which is the strongest durability evidence anywhere on the site. The one recurring niggle in those reviews is that individual batches can run tighter than expected in the same size. If you are trying Mack Weldon for the first time this is the pair to use for the Try On Guarantee, because the rest of a first order stays returnable.
StrengthLong-term buyers report years of wear from the same style
WeaknessFit can vary slightly between batches of the same size
The premium tier, $40 a pair or $114 for a 3-pack, made with Supima cotton and XT2 silver fibre that Mack Weldon says is woven in rather than applied, so the odor control does not wash out. Recent on-site reviews are almost uniformly positive about comfort and consistency across repeat orders. The brand’s FAQ notes it should not be worn through an MRI, which is a small but real quirk. At $40 the price is hard to justify unless odor control matters to you, because the 18-Hour Jersey pair at $30 gets similar praise for comfort and lasts as long by buyer accounts.
StrengthSilver fibre is part of the yarn, so the effect does not wash out
Weakness$40 a pair is a steep premium over the brand’s own jersey style
A French terry hoodie with a trimmer, less slouchy cut than most, listed at $118 to $128 depending on colour, alongside matching ACE Sweatpants at $98 to $108. The brand calls it a bestseller and the on-site reviews back that up: buyers own several and praise the fabric and fit. One reviewer had to return a hoodie for running large, so check the size guide, and remember that a return label costs money unless you paid for Checkout+. Older ACE colours often reappear in the Final Sale section at well under list price, but those cannot be returned at all.
StrengthTidy fit that looks more put-together than a standard sweatshirt
WeaknessOver $100 for a hoodie; sizing runs large for some buyers
A slim-fitting Pima cotton tee at $48 in 16 colours, positioned to wear alone or under a blazer. Recent reviews are positive and mostly about colour and softness, and one buyer says it does not stretch out. The trouble is the comparison. Plenty of rivals sell a decent Pima tee for well under $48, and Mack Weldon’s own Final Sale section has listed this same tee at a fraction of the price in older colours. A Trustpilot reviewer described a Mack Weldon shirt as thin and running small. Buy it if you like a slim cut; otherwise wait for final-sale colours.
StrengthSlim cut and soft hand that works under a jacket
Weakness$48 at full price is hard to defend against cheaper Pima tees
A large rotating clearance area where past-season underwear, tees, ACE sweats and outerwear are cut by roughly half or more: single boxer briefs under $20, ACE Hoodies in older colours from the $30s and $60s. The discounts are real. The catch is that final-sale items cannot be returned or exchanged, and the first-order Try On Guarantee excludes them. A September 2026 Trustpilot reviewer was stuck with shorts in a colour he disliked until the company made an exception. For underwear, where size is the main risk, buy at list first, confirm the fit, then use this section only for styles you already know.

Caveats
Free returns are an add-on: unless you buy Checkout+ coverage at checkout, the return label comes out of your refund, which several Trustpilot reviewers did not expect.
Trustpilot complaints from 2025 and 2026 describe orders stuck in processing, a cancellation that was refused and email or chat going unanswered; there is no phone line.
Final-sale items are a large share of the catalogue and cannot be returned or exchanged at all, even for size.
Review themes
There are two very different pictures. Mack Weldon’s own review widget shows thousands of reviews per core product with high averages, and the recent ones read like loyal repeat buyers: men who have worn the 18-Hour Jersey or SILVER styles for a decade and reorder by habit. The few mixed on-site reviews mention a rolling waistband, printed outer labels and the odd batch running tight.
Trustpilot is much harsher, though the sample is small. The score is 2.2 and most recent reviews are one star. The themes are elastic or seams failing within weeks or months, thin tee fabric, return fees, orders that sit unprocessed, and support that is hard to reach. The company replies to a minority of negative reviews, sometimes with an exception or refund. A few one-star writers say the brand ‘used to be cool’ and has drifted from basics.
If not Mack Weldon, then
Tommy John
Pick this if you want a direct premium rival and prefer its fit after trying both.
Bombas
Pick this if you mainly want socks and basics from a brand that donates an item per purchase.
Uniqlo
Pick this if you want AIRism-style breathable underwear and tees at a fraction of the price.
The verdict
The underwear is the reason to shop here, and repeat buyers make a persuasive case for the 18-Hour Jersey and SILVER styles. The business around it is weaker. Returns cost money unless you pay up front for coverage, final-sale stock is everywhere, and the public complaint record on service is poor. Use the Try On Guarantee on one full-price pair, settle your size, then restock during sales. Do not buy clearance until you know the fit. Verdict: CONSIDER.
